Alessandra Altomare

University of Milan – Italy

Alessandra Altomare is an Associate Professor of Medicinal Chemistry at the University of Milan, where she earned her PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences.

An expert in mass spectrometry-based proteomics, she has published 72 scientific papers and achieved an H-index of 20. Her research focuses on the development and application of advanced high-resolution mass spectrometry (HR-MS) techniques for identifying molecular targets, studying biomarkers relevant to disease mechanisms, and elucidating the mechanisms of action of bioactive molecules from both synthetic and natural origins.

She has collaborated with leading pharmaceutical companies, including Fidia Farmaceutici, Chiesi Farmaceutici, and Zambon, through consultancy contracts for the development of analytical methods for drug discovery and quality control, addressing both bioactive small molecules and biologics.

In addition to her industrial collaborations, Prof. Altomare works closely with international research groups, as demonstrated by several joint publications. She has also presented her work at numerous international conferences as a speaker, showcasing the application of proteomics in drug discovery.

Recently, she received a donation from the Baggi Sisini Foundation to support a cancer research project, further underscoring the impact and importance of her scientific work. Her combined expertise in academic research and industrial collaborations supports ongoing advancements in proteomics and medicinal chemistry.
