“How far are we from a complete and reliable compositional assessment of natural extracts: Perspectives for the development of new ingredients and drug discovery”

Jean‐Luc Wolfender

University of Massachusetts-Amherst – USA

Jean‐Luc Wolfender is a Professor at the University of Geneva, where he leads the Phytochemistry Bioactive Natural Product (PBNP) group.

Since the 1990s, he has contributed to the introduction of LC-MS and LC-NMR for profiling natural extracts and accelerating the discovery of novel bioactive compounds.

Currently, he is developing innovative metabolomic approaches based on mass spectrometry (MS) and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), integrating LC-MS computational methods for data mining with a focus on generic assessment of natural extracts composition.

His research focuses on the discovery of natural product-based drugs and evidence-based phytotherapy, also exploring new natural products induced by stimuli.
