Silvio Aprile is Associate Professor of Pharmaceutical Analysis at the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences (DSF) of the Università del Piemonte Orientale (UPO) in Novara, Italy. He is also a cofounder of the spin-off company Novanalitica Srls, operating in Novara, Italy.

His current research focuses primarily on ADME-PK studies in drug discovery and lead optimization projects, particularly of novel biologically active compounds such as indoleamine 2,3-dioxygenase (IDO) inhibitors, PROTACs, and antibacterial isocyanides. His work emphasizes metabolic stability and metabolite profiling assessment, mainly through in vitro experiments and employing HPLC-UV, fluorescence (FL), and high-resolution mass spectrometry (HRMS) analytical techniques.

Other key areas include enzymatic inhibition, metabolic bioactivation, and reaction phenotyping studies. Recently, he has expanded his research to explore the potential of targeting specific cytochrome P450 isoforms as novel therapeutic avenues.

A parallel area of research involves the development and validation of HPLC analytical methods to support stability studies of active pharmaceutical ingredients and drug products.
